Open Coil Mattress

Put simply it is made from a large number of metal coils that are evenly placed across the surface of the bed. These are attached to its “frame” at the top and bottom. This stops them from slipping and causing you injury. Providing support for your whole body, each spring’s neighbour will slightly compress when it is under pressure. An open coil mattress allows your weight to distribute evenly but is not suitable for smaller framed individuals. With foam, wool or an alternative stuffing covering the springs they will not be felt unless great force is put onto them. Open spring mattresses are the most common type.
